This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. This is a multi-center NICHD funded study, conducted by the Obstetrical Pharmacology Research Unit (OPRU) network, to define the pharmacology of 17-OHPC in pregnancy: its pharmacokinetics, metabolism and placental transport of the drug. 17-OHPC is used to prevent preterm labor. Sixty pregnant women will be studied three times during their pregnancies (two PK studies, and placentaltransport during labor & delivery), along with an optional fourth study. There will be 15 participants at the GU site. Participants will receive weekly IM injections of 17-OHPC from enrollment until 35 weeks gestation, with length of participation in study about 15 weeks.
