Women who are part of the Women's Interagency HIV study (WIHS) undergo carotid ultrasound now and again in 4 years to assess the role of carotid intimal thickening in predicting heart disease in this cohort. The GCRC is utilized to obtain a fasting lipid panel, glucose and insulin levels as part of a biomarker panel for heart disease on a subset of women who were not fasting at their core WIHS visit.
