This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The purpose of the study is to compare blood levels in patients receiving 17-alpha hydroxyprogesterone caproate (17-HPC) for the prevention of preterm delivery to those who are not, in order to help understand the mechanisms by which the drug works. In particular, we are looking at CRH peptide and other steroid hormones. Analysis of blood levels will be performed using tandem mass spectrometry. The information hopefully will be used to support a larger NIH funded study, and will help target and monitor therapy using 17-HPC.
