Abstract

The core has the following functions: purchase of rats; interaction with the veterinarians in regard to housing and other aspects of rat maintenance including health monitoring; maintenence of records on weight and food and water intake of the rats; execution of the chronic stress procedures (escapable foot shock); insertion and maintenance of arterial and venous catheters, and sacrifice of rats.
