The Administrative/ Data Management-Biostatistic Core A of the CERC has a two tiers plan. TheAdministrative Tier one can be divided into three broad categories: scientific, academic and organizational. The scientific component of the administrative core provides the day-to-day management of scientificactivities of the center, including monitoring the progress made towards reaching our scientific goals, controlof data access etc. The academic component of the administrative core provides guidance within andbetween units at MSSM-The Feinstein Institute for Medical Research (FIMR)/Albert Einstein College ofMedicine and Purdue University- Botanical Research Center. The academic component also monitors andprovides leadership in issues associated with the CERC outreach efforts. The organizational supportivecomponent of this core manages the basic infrastructure of the proposed CERC such as the management offiscal, personnel related issues. Tier two Data Management/Biostatics involves statistical support for allCERC projects and cores. All of the CERC projects and Core C requires statistical data analysis andstorage. While all of the CERC investigators are well versed in the statistical approaches that are applicableto their specific hypotheses and projects, this core will provide them with statistical expertise for not onlystate-of-the-art analysis of their specific data sets, but also for the integration of each project's data with thedata derived from the other projects. Tier two also involves the implementation and maintenance of a datawarehouse system-that has recently been developed within our Department of Psychiatry at MSSM. Thissystem will provide access to the contributing projects and cores within the CERC system integrated datastorage and data query capacity through a secure web-based portal. A 3 server computer cluster alreadyavailable to the proposed CERC and a 2 terabyte mass storage system positioned behind the Mount Sinaifire-wall and further protected by 128 bit encryption constitutes the physical structure for data management. The integration of cross-project data for statistical analysis will not only be aided by the data managementsystem described, but also by the fact that statistical testing of hypotheses will be an integral part of thedevelopment of the aims and hypotheses of each CERC project from the time of their inception.
