The broad use and success of Add Health can be partially attributed to a longstanding commitment to making the extensive data available to the research and policy community soon after data collection. The value of this data source has been demonstrated by the 10,000+ data users, 500 independently funded research grants using the data, nearly 2,000 peer-reviewed publications in a diverse set of journals, and 450+ masters' theses and doctoral dissertations based on Add Health. The Dissemination Core will continue the standard of excellence in distributing the data, including survey, biologic, genetic, spatial, and data provided by ancillary studies. To accomplish this goal, there are several core objectives that will be undertaken: (1) assist with specifications and design of data collection so that there is consistency across waves and dissemination issues are considered; (2) receive and process data from different modes of collection in the Wave V Data Collection Subproject on a continuous basis; (3) prepare those data, including biomarker results, for dissemination; (4) disseminate the data to Program Project subprojects, future research projects undertaken by Program Project investigators, and the broader scientific research community, in collaboration with the Interuniversity Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR), at two time points under this grant; and (5) promote and support the use of the Add Health data. Add Health will leverage a continuing partnership with ICPSR, which will make the released data available to the research community. Based on the continuous data collection period of three years. Add Health proposes to have two releases of the data, one mid-data collection (in year 3), and a final release after all data collection is complete (year 5). Leadership of the Core and key programming and analysis staff have been with the study for extensive periods and bring expertise to the receipt, preparation, and dissemination of the data, while upholding the high data security standards that are a hallmark of Add Health.
