The Tracer Development Specialized Resource (Core B) of this P50 grant application provides thecontrast agents, quality control and metabolite analysis in humans and animals to assist theindividual research and pilot projects. The activities of the Core will consist of services. The sevenservices are 1) to produce positron emitting radidnuclides 18F and 11C. 2) Synthesize anf/-1-amino-3-18F]fluorocyclobutyl-1-carboxylic acid (a/itf-[18F]FACBC) for Research Project #1. 3) The synthesis ofan 18F-labeled CXCR4 antagonist and an 18F-labeled CCR7 antagonist for Research Project #2. 4)The synthesis of an Amino Terminal Fragmented-conjugated iron oxide nanoparticles specifc for theurokinase plasminogen activator (uPAR) cell surface receptor for Research Project #3; 5) Thesynthesis of 11C-labeled PK11195 and the 18F-labeled PK11195 antagonist, 1-(2-iodophenyl)-Nmethyl-N-(3-[18F]fluoropropyl)-3-isoquinolinecarboxamide for Pilot Project #4. 6) The synthesis oftumor targeted magnetic nanoparticles pegylated with 64Cu-labeled conjugated peptides for PilotProject #5. 7) Assist in the preparation of RDRC, IACUC, IND and IRB protocols for regulatoryapproval of the use of radioactivity in humans and animals for Research Projects #1, #2 and #3 andCores A, C and D and Pilot Projects #5 and #6. Core B will also interact with Core A (Imaging), CoreC (Biostatistics, Modeling and Data Management), and Core D (Animal Models and Pathology) toimplement optimized imaging and analysis of the tracers synthesized and validated through Core B.In this regard, this Specialized Resource (Core B) component is highly integrative, beingutilized by 3 research projects and 2 pilot projects, and having collaborative interactions witheach of the other cores.
