This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The administrative core continues to be a critical component of the Center in this new funding period. It coordinates all the Center activities as well as providing support for all Center and affiliated faculty, and plays a vital role in the successful competitive renewal of the program. The core is also responsible for the day-to-day operations and fiscal management of the Center and overseeing the outreach and dissemination activities. The Nebraska Center for Virology (NCV) Administrative offices will continue to be located in the George W. Beadle Center at University of Nebraska- Lincoln (UNL) until the planned Virology Facility at UNL is completed towards the end of 2007. The personnel for the administrative component remained unchanged. It is headed by the Center Director, Dr. Charles Wood; Co-Directors, Drs. Howard Gendelman and James Van Etten; and Associate Director, Dr. Clinton Jones. They form the core Executive Council. The Center administrator, Ms. Jolene Walker, continues to play a crucial role in managing the Center's day-to-day operations. A support staff member, Gwendolyn Cook, for Ms. Walker is being added due to the increasing Center activities. The Executive Council meets quarterly with the Center's Internal Advisory Committee comprised of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) Vice Chancellor for Research, Dr. Prem Paul; the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Dr. David Crouse; and the Creighton University (CU) Associate Dean for Research, Dr. Barbara McLaughlin.
