This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. Dr. Schooley is developin a new undergraduate course titled 'Mathematical Models in Biology' at Northeastern State University. His concept is a course which will be jointly available for Biology and Mathematics majors. Ideally a faculty member and a balanced mix of students from the two disciplines will form small problem solving teams. Tentative topics include: dynamical modeling with difference equations, linear models of structured populations, nonlinear models of interaction, modeling molecular evolution, constructing phylogenetic trees, genetics, infectious disease modeling, curve fitting and biological modeling.
