This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The primary objective of the proposed molecular biology/viral vector core is to provide state of the art support for CEHS investigators and others to: 1) establish highly efficient, cell type specific and constitutive gene expression clones through standard molecular biology methodologies and; 2) use these constructs to generate purified, high titer recombinant adeno-associated virus (AAV) vectors. These services will provide a unique ability to drive the over expression or knock down of specific genes in selected cell populations both in vitro and in vivo. The overall purpose of the molecular biology/viral vector core is to provide investigators with a set of novel tools that will enable them to experimentally ask critical questions leading to high quality publications and the generation of preliminary data, to support RO1 grant applications.
