Abstract

This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source,and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.The recruitment of qualified personnel for this project has been hindered during the FY08 project year due to the State of Louisiana's hiring freeze instituted by Governor Jindal. The hiring freeze is slated to end by June 30,2008.An institutional request for proposals will be opened in June 2008 to initiate a new pilot subproject. This request for proposals will allow an open, unbiased opportunity to recruit the best pilot subproject for this project.Once a qualified proposal is selected, the proper paperwork for an inclusion of new key personnel will be submitted to the NCRR program offical and grant administrator.
