This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source,and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.Here, we plan to investigate the possibility of two-photon activation of ChR2 expressing excitable cells by using tunable femto second Ti: Sapphire laser (860 to 960 nm). In order to visualise activation of ChR2, calcium imaging of activated cells will be carried out.These experiments will yield important parameters of ChR2 activation that are critical for two-photon activation.
