Abstract

This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source,and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.We are analyzing the effects of chemotherapeutic drugs on prostate cancer cells via a dual-modality approach. Using a combination of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy with near-infrared (NIR) fluorescent molecular probes we are targeting phospholipase function with the goal of delineating specific cell signaling pathways in vivo. The information gained from a molecular imaging approach may lead to earlier diagnoses and improved management of disease.
