This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. As a part of the CARE consortium, this project will have two components: 1) a genome-wide SNP association scan in more than 700 African-American individuals, from over 100 families and 2) genotyping of candidate gene regions for obesity in the African-American sample mentioned above as well as a European-American sample, also with more than 700 individuals in over 100 families.
