This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The recent improvements in gathering molecular sequence data bymolecular biologists and biochemists has brought with it both the abilityand need to perform phylogenetic analyses on larger, more complex datasets and to perform analyses to answer new kinds of questions about therelationships among biological organisms. This project concerns theparallization of Phylip package using the MPI message passing library toenable large scale phylogenetic studies that rely on bootstrapping to beperformed within a moderate amount of time on a moderate number ofprocessors.
