This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.The main objective of the proposal was to characterize the crystalline packing for a variety of self-assembled nanostructures of the organic semiconducting molecules fabricated by pi-pi stacking. In general q-value for the pi-pi stacking is close to 1.8 which is 0.34 nm in d-spacing units (as found in graphite). Thus, by measuring the WAXS in the q-range of 0.01 to 3.0 -1 the packing behavior for each of the self-assembled nanostructure could be deduced. Such a measurement provides a pathway to understand the detailed structure-property-function relationships through which one can expect to tailor better organic molecules for optimized performance.
