This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. Work at the NE-CAT beamline was focused on determining the structure of the STIV viral protein B129. The function of this protein can not be determined by sequence similarity using BLAST searches, or by CD searches or threading. We anticipate, however, that the structure of the protein will allow us to identify structural homologs, and thus to formulate a testable hypothesis regarding its function.
