This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. As a service function, AMRIS has been involved in providing imaging capability for a variety of veterinary applications, mainly birds, dogs, cats and even a cougar on the 3T headscanner. One study used the 4.7T to image hydrocephalus in an African Grey parrot (Psittacus erithacus), subsequently published in Vet Radiol Ultrasound (2003). These studies are quite challenging when no one knows the normal MR appearance of these creatures. We intend to grow this service function in the facility.
