The contamination of water and aquifer sediments with As, and to a lesser extent Mn, are associated with major public health, remedial, legal and environmental policy problems in the United States. Potential exposure to and remediation of both As and Mn represents a significant problem at many Superfund sites. The health effects on adolescents of exposure to these elements are not adequately defined. This project offers an opportunity to elucidate dose-response relationships between exposure and lung and brain function.
