The Administrative Core has as its major aim to provide the base structure for fluent PeruTMRC Program activities, including ensuring timely and appropriate management of funds andresources, and development effluent communication systems, among other duties. This core willbe set at the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia (UPCH) to administer the grant itself andobtain subcontracts with four US and one UK institutions. The administrative core will do allpurchasing, travel payrolls of this project and facilitate the carrying out of the scientific projects thatform the research arm of the project.
Aims for the Administrative Core Aare: a) to provide, coordinate and supervise the administrative and financial management of thegrant, including account supervision and reconciling, including to maintain financial data bases foreach project; personnel management for the Components and Cores; timely procurement ofsupplies and equipment; updated inventory of equipment and supplies, and coordination of all traveland meetings, including travel and lodging of consultants when in Peru; b) to ensure regular and fluent communication at all program levels, including appropriatecoordination of multi-site activities;c) to supervise legal and ethical aspects of research, including IRB applications and annualrenewals;d) to identify training needs for researchers and procure appropriate training; and e) to facilitate the dissemination of the information produced in the TMRC. UPCH is the leadinginstitution in biomedical research in Peru, managing grants from almost all major funding agencies.
