The Administrative Core will support all of the Projects and the Bioinformatics Core of this Program. Dr. Robert L. Modlin, Center of Research Translation Director, will be the Leader of the Administrative Core, with support from Dr. John S. Adams, the Center of Research Translation Associate Director. The overall goal of the Administrative Core is to both foster collaborative research within the CORT and facilitate productive interactions at UCLA and with the CORT Advisory Board. This Core will enable all of the scientific components ofthe Program to interact by providing the structure and financial support for regular planning, sharing, and evaluation of the research. The Core will be responsible for ensuring that the investigators act as a cohesive and interactive group to achieve synergy in their translational research efforts. The goals of the Core are to: 1) provide intellectual leadership to engage investigators from different areas of expertise in translational research into the human disease leprosy, 2) promote collaborations between the scientists within the CORT, within the UCLA environment, and with outside collaborators involved in leprosy research worldwide, 3) facilitate interaction with CORT scientists and the Advisory Board, 4) maintain the Enrichment Program, 5) solicit and review Pilot Projects to expand the research base of investigators involved in translational research into the immunology of leprosy, to increase the number of investigators in the field; 6) facilitate training opportunities to develop the careers of next generation translational researchers; and, 7) oversee the finances and budgeting ofthe CORT, prepare reports and manage administrative CORT personnel.
