One of the chief goals of the Trauma Center is to implement human studies which will establish alink between human reperfusion injury and rodent reperfusion injury. This Clinical Core willimplement a number of human studies designed to assess intestinal perfusion in human injury and disease. To do this, a supportive infrastructure will be created that includes the Director of the Surgical Intensive Care Units, a Study Nurse to recruit, consent, and gather clinical data on the patients. In addition there will be in place a data entry technician who will also be responsible for cryopreservation and archiving of all human samples.
