This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.
The aim of this project was to develop a lentiviral vector-delivery system for use at the ONPRC. This goal is being carried on by the establishment of the Lentiviral Production Service within the Virology Core which will continue aiding center scientists in the use of specific lentiviral constructs. The lentiviral vector is one of the gene therapy systems thought to have potential use in humans. Thus development of the lentiviral system as a tool, especially in nonhuman primates will have translational value to human health and the treatment of disease.
