This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The goal of this project is to examine the molecular mechanisms of fear learning and extinction in genetic mouse models, to examine the genetics of PTSD, particularly focusing on the NMDA receptor genes in humans, and to perform a clinical trial for treatment of PTSD in traumatized women using D-cycloserine to enhance the NMDA-dependent learning underlying behavior-based exposure therapy.During the reporting period, we've begun to further examine NMDA function in mouse through the use of a 'floxed' inducible deletion NMDA receptor subunit 1 mouse line.
