Public Health Relevance

The proposed research is relevant to public health as it will advance new sex-based precision medicine treatments by answering critical questions regarding the contribution of biological sex to mechanisms underlying heterogeneity in schizophrenia. This project is relevant to NIMH?s mission to determine modifiers of maturational and illness trajectories during sensitive developmental periods (strategic objective 2.1), as it will determine sex and pubertal modifiers of neurodevelopmental trajectories that contribute to the emergence of schizophrenia.
