Public Health Relevance

The proposed studies will investigate how growth factors induce directed migration of neural precursors. These investigations of polarity and migration will lead to approaches for restricting the extensive migration of malignant brain tumor cells that arise from neural precursors. In addition these studies will explain why errors in migration predispose to defects in brain circuitry in neuropsychiatric disorders such as dyslexia and autism.
