The objective of the MBRS """"""""SCORE"""""""" Program is to 1) increase the number of under-represented minority scientists engaged in competitive and relevant Biomedical Research. In order to accomplish this goal, Prairie View A&M University designed a program that will increase, by at least 100%, the number of PI's in Biomedical Research, 2) increase by four-fold the number of minority PIs who have active grant support, 3) to increase, at least by 100, the number of Graduate students in Biomedical Research, 4) to increase by 25% the number of publications in referred journals by the faculty receiving grant support, 5) to increase by 25% the number of presentations by students and faculty and to increase by 100% the number of grant applications by faculty receiving grant support. The projects included are one research proposal entitled, Mechanism of Action of Fucoidan during the Activation of Plasminogen, Vasant Doctor, P.I. and two Pilot Research Proposals: 1) Mechanisms involved in the Sustained Anti-hypertensive Effects of Ace-Inhibitors, Alphonso Keaton, P.I., and 2) Role of Heparin/Heparan Sulfate Interacting Protein (HIP) in Pig Uterus, Gloria Regisford, P.I.
