Bradley Schaefer, MD, FAAPAdjournDescription of the Evaluation PlanAn overall evaluation instrument will be utilized as the primary mechanism fordetermining if the activity was effective in meeting the learning needs for which it was designed. This evaluation instrument included questions regarding both plenary and breakout sessions, learning objectives, the registration process, staff assistance prior to and on-site at theconference, the CME process, the venue, etc. Outcomes-oriented questions were integrated intothe overall evaluation this year and that information will be examined by the planning committee11and staff to determine whether there are any themes that were generated from attendees thatcould provide information useful to planning of future conferences. Participants will be asked to provide/list two ways that they would plan to use theinformation learned at the conference. Highlights of the responses from past events related tothis question are as follows: changing practice behaviors such as interviewing techniques, treatment regiments and the incorporation of more cultural sensitivity and parent-orientedteaching into patient visits; the incorporation of screening tools and more proactive follow uprelated to screening results into practice; and the more frequent utilization of resources andonline information as a means to learn more on a particular topic. Previous evaluation results indicate that the activity was effective in meeting learnerneeds because the overall ratings were very positive and open-ended questions revealedinformation regarding participant satisfaction with the activity. Planning committee membersand staff take the evaluation results very seriously and, to the extent possible, will address issuesraised as challenges for future conferences and will advise ICAAP leadership about otherstrategies that ICAAP can use (other educational programs or materials, policy work with stateagencies, etc.) to address them. ICAAP applies to and receives CME credit from the national AAP, which advises onevaluation strategy and receives reports on outcomes. The evaluation method to be employed inthe activity is sound and models that used by the national AAP and other national organizations.Recent changes made by the AAP to the evaluation process (eg, the inclusion of additionaloutcomes-oriented questions) will be integrated to further enhance the evaluation component ofthe activity.12Other Attachment File(s)FileName MimeType2883-Mandatory_Eval_Sample.doc application/mswordTracking Number: GRANT00555521
