The education component of this application will serve to help disseminate information from consortium members to new trainees and staff as well as to all investigators of the consortium. The information will include basic issues of growing the anthrax bacilli and working with the spores or vegetative bacteria and isolating the endo- and exotoxins. Each of these procedures involves training prior to use. The educational component will also introduce new information through enhancement of an existing seminar series. Six additional outside speakers per year will be added to the existing OMRF seminar series. Speakers will be selected by the steering committee of this grant and be among national experts studying the host response to B. anthracis. In addition, the education component will play an important role in disseminating new information and technologies developed from the technology component of this application.
