The purpose of this agreement is for the National Cancer Institute (NCI) to provide financial support to the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS). The NCI fund partial support for the National Health Interview Survey (NHIS). This project is a collaborative effort between NCHS, NCI, and the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (NCCDPH). The NHIS is a large, annual population-based health survey conducted by the National Center for Health Statistics. The NHIS is the principal source of information on the health of the civilian, non-institutionalized, household population of the United States. It has been conducted continuously since its inception in 1957.
