Program Operation Applicants to the Program must submit their medical records along with a summary letter from a health care provider who will assume care after a potential NIH Clinical Center admission. Appropriate members of a Board of more than 30 consultants, representing over 15 medical specialties, review the cases. An expressed goal of the Program is to provide a disposition for a case within 6-8 weeks after the records are received in their entirety. Accepted patients are generally admitted as inpatients or outpatients for a week-long stay, either into existing protocols of various ICs, or directly into the UDP?s service.
