The U.S. Aeronomy community has formed a vigorous sub-group aimed at studying the Coupled Energetics and Dynamics of Atmospheric regions (CEDAR). This proposal supports the activities of that community by formalizing the activities of CEDAR Science Steering Committee (CSSC). The committee is appointed by the Nation Science Foundation Upper Atmospheric research Section. The nominal activities of the CSSC are:
(1) to convene the annual CEDAR Workshop each June and to meet at NSF each fall; and (2) to publish the CEDAR Post, the community newsletter, twice each year.
Specific tasks over the next two years include implementation of collaborative studies with the USAF-NASA Communication/Navigation Outage forecast System (C/NOFS) satellite program and promotion of a community participation in the new Advanced Modular Incoherent Scatter Radar (AMISR) program.
