This grant supports the Young Scientist Network (YSN) of the Analysis Integration and Modeling of the Earth System (AIMES) project of the International Geosphere-Biosphere Programmes (IGBP). The project goal is to promote the integration of our understanding of the earth system at the young scientist level, especially the integration of human decision making, biogeochemistry and climate. The PI will convene annual workshops and meetings at existing conferences and develop email lists and interactive web pages. For 2006, the Principal Investigator (PI) will dedicate the YSN workshop to the topic, Urbanization Interactions with Biogeochemistry and Climate.
Broader Impacts: This project provides young scientist with opportunities to network with peers in their and related fields of study. It provides an effective means of learning about the work and interests of earth system science peers and can be an effective way to establish close working relationships with them, including conducting interdisciplinary research.
