A workshop will be held to share and develop ideas for using laboratory experiments to teach atmospheric and ocean dynamics. It will extend over two and a half days at the University of Chicago during the summer of 2008, and it will make use of the University's Fluid Dynamics Teaching Laboratory. Participants will: - Share experiences and ideas in using laboratory experiments in teaching weather and climate. - Discuss curricula materials that have been developed for use with laboratory experiments. - Discuss how to disseminate the use of laboratory experiments more widely in university and K-12 education.

Results of the workshop will be published formally and on the web. Teachers and students from Chicago-area schools will participate through the University of Chicago's Science and Technology Outreach Program (STOMP).
