An ultra-wideband spectrometer, called the Zpectrometer, will be constructed and installed on the 100 meter diameter Green Bank Telescope. The Zpectrometer will cover the entire 26 - 40 GHz band which will allow sensitive and efficient spectral searches for molecules in high redshift galaxies. The predominant use will be for the detection of carbon monoxide at redshifts between 1.9 and 3.4, corresponding to the Universe's most active era of star formation.
