This project will give continued funding to the highly successful Small and Moderate Aperture Telescope System which operates four one meter class telescopes at Cerro Tololo InterAmerican Observatory in Chile. Observation time made available to the general community will cover a broad range of astronomical topics including Kuiper Belt objects, parallax studies of nearby stars, binary brown dwarfs, Gamma ray bursters, spectroscopic monitoring of stars, nearby supernovae and time delays in gravitationally lensed quasars.

The project will provide training to undergraduate and graduate students from consortium and non-consortium members as well as participation in a Research Experience for Undergraduates program held at the Cerro Tololo InterAmerican Observatory.
