This is a travel award for exploratory visits to Stanford University and the Universidade Gama Filho in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to meet with prospective mentors, establish contacts with other scholars involved in racial studies, and refine research plans for postdoctoral study. Initial contacts have been made with Dr. Claude Steele, Stanford U., and Dr. Aroldo Rodrigues, Universidade Gama Filho, who have expressed interest in serving as postdoctoral mentor.
