The equipment requested in this proposal integrates technology, scientific principles, and mathematical models that could provide students hands-on experience in exercise science classes. Because of the geometrical location of the institution, this equipment also supports research of body composition assessment in minority groups. About 60 students in exercise sciences per year would be able to access this proposed equipment, if granted, through course, lab experience, research projects, and student theses. It would also promote students for advanced education. A new mathematical model of body composition for the under-studied group could be identified through this research.
