The objective of this proposal is to continue development of whispering gallery mode sensors. This objective will be pursued by advancing the sensor instrumentation through inclusion of polarization sensitivity and control and improving the testbed by using microfluidic techniques. The improvements will be validated by assessing the ability to detect single viruses using the WGM sensor. Finally, a theory component is proposed to improve understanding of the mechanisms involved.
