This award is in partial support of a "Workshop on Resilient and Sustainable Interdependent Critical Infrastructures." The workshop is to be held December 7-8, 2009 in Old Town VA. NSF RESIN PIs and team members, and others from universities, government, and industry, will discuss theories and methods aimed at enhancing the resiliency and sustainability of interdependent critical infrastructures. Synergistic interactions will be fostered, and gaps in the research agenda for the future will be identified. The goal is to further the development of new multidisciplinary risk-based theories for engineering system design and control that integrate resiliency and sustainability indicators, and to begin the formulation of a roadmap to guide the creation of new engineering standards for resilience and sustainability.
