The aim of this joint U.S. - Japan Seminar is to promote and further enhance scientific cooperation and communication in Biotechnology. The seminar will provide an opportunity for the participating experts in biotechnology to: 1. discuss, exchange, and share information and ideas in the solution of critical problems in biotechnology 2. together as a group, seek practical solutions to those critical problems 3. develop and establish collaborative research programs 4. cultivate mutual understanding and good working relationships among biotechnologists from different cultural backgrounds. Expected benefits of the joint seminar are: l. a coming together to strengthen research in biotechnology 2. achieve common objectives far more efficiently by team effort of participating experts 3. jointly improve the national and global economy by promoting an exchange of information on biotechnology research and opportunities.
