The project funds curriculum development and operation of a summer workshop in Design Research Methods. The activity contributes to the development of a Science of Design program by developing an open community of graduate students, faculty, and industry researchers who are actively engaged in the advancement of software design research. This community encompasses researchers from related areas of design research who can contribute to the software design community and who can take ideas from software design back to their own research communities. The workshop is designed to be a replicable model that makes the curriculum widely available. The result is expected to entail mentoring relationships among the students, the faculty and the industrial participants. These mentoring relationships are particularly important to students from underrepresented populations.
