With this award, the Synthetic Organic Program supports a request by Barry M. Trost of the Department of Chemistry at Stanford University to provide symposium costs for the William S. Johnson Memorial Symposium. The symposium, honoring the memory of one of the true icons of organic chemistry, will take place at the American Chemical Society Meeting which will be held in San Francisco, California on April 13-17, 1997
