The U.S. Committee on Large Dams will host the 16th Congress on Large Dams, that will take place in San Francisco, California, June 13-17, 1988. This gathering will bring together professionals from over seventy countries to discuss and report on themes related to the application of engineering to the design, construction, and operqtion of large dams. Corollary topics addressing safety and environmental impact will also be presented. The Congress technical sessions, symposia and study tours will focus on major problem areas including: -Reservoirs and Environment: Experience in Management and Monitoring; - Embankment Dams: Impervious Elements other than Clay Cores: -New Developments in the Construction of Concrete Dams; and, -Design Floods and Flood Control. The presentations and discussions will advance the state-of-the- art knowledge and stimulate future work in related areas of interest.
