This award will support student travel for participation in the 2010 International Conference on Dependable Systems and Networks. Traveling to this conference and participating in the conference activities will foster development of skilled researchers in this field which is of national interest.
This proposal requested funding support for awards to students to attend the 40th Annual IEEE/IFIP International Conference on Dependable Systems and Networks (DSN 2010) held in Chicago, IL on June 28 through July 1, 2010. The IEEE/IFIP International Conference on Dependable Systems and Networks (DSN) is a premier international conference for presenting the research results, problem solutions, and insights on new challenges in dependability and security of systems and networks. In 2010, the DSN conference once again incorporated the Dependable Computing and Communications Symposium (DCCS) and the Performance and Dependability Symposium (PDS), together with four workshops, two tutorials, student forums, fast abstracts, and birds-of-a-feather sessions. The funds were used to provide support for students to attend the DSN 2010 conference, which included a waiver of conference registration fees for 15 domestic students as well as reduced registration costs for all 43 domestic student attendees. Students from the following universities received support: U. Washington, Illinois Inst. of Tech., Georgia Tech, U. Central Fla., Purdue, U. Indiana, Worcester Poly., Texas A&M, U. Michigan, U. Illinois, U. Wisconsin, CMU, and Wayne State U. These students were involved in a variety of activities in the conference including: presenting full length and workshop papers (30-minute presentations), and presenting papers about works-in-progress in the student forum sessions.
