9522095 Zimmerman The University of Arkansas requests support from NSF for connection of eleven college campus networks to ARKnet. In addition, a Metropolitan Area Network, based on wireless technology will be deployed to extend access to the Internet to various public facilities in Fayetteville. ARKnet, a midlevel network will provide operations management and information services and it will give the Arkansas schools a connections to the Internet, a collection of interoperable networks that connect most research and education organizations in the United States. The various sites need the Internet connections to be able to access information resources throughout the state, the nation and the world. The connection will benefit the faculty, staff, and students of the Arkansas college campuses as well as the community in general.
