Travel support is requested for about twenty U.S. participants (recent Ph.D.s, women, and members of underrepresented minority groups) to attend the 35th Conference on Stochastic Processes and Their Applications, to be held in Oaxaca, Mexico from 19th to 24th of June, 2011.

The annual ``Stochastic Processes and Their Applications'' meeting is one of the main international forum for researchers studying applied and theoretical problems in the field of stochastic processes.

An important part of the intellectual development of researchers at the beginning of their career is to attend international conferences where they have an opportunity to interacts with people working in a wide range of topics. The 35th Conference on Stochastic Processes and Their Applications will feature twenty Plenary Lectures, sixteen Invited Sessions as well as numerous Contributed and Poster Sessions, covering many aspects of applied and theoretical probability.

Project Report

This award was used to support travel of 22 researchers from U.S. universities to the 35th Conference on Stochastic Processes and Their Applications, held in Oaxaca, Mexico from the 19th to 24th of June, 2011. The annual 'Stochastic Processes and Their Applications' meeting is a major international forum for researchers studying applied and theoretical problems in the area of stochastic processes. It features the latest scientific developments in the fields of probability and stochastic processes and their applications. The program covered a wide range of topics and featured 20 invited plenary lectures presented by leading specialists. There were also many special sessions, contributed sessions, talks, and posters highlighting current research topics. Participation in international conferences, where they have an opportunity to interact with people working in a wide range of areas, is important for researchers, especially at the beginning of their careers. The availability of these awards was advertised in the IMS Bulletin, on the conference web page, and through various email lists. 26 applications were submitted. These were evaluated by a committee consisting of selected past and current U.S. members of the Committee for Conferences on Stochastic Processes. A total of 22 awards were made to junior researchers, women, and members of under-represented minorities, all researchers in the area of stochastic processes based in the United States.
