This proposal requests support for a conference and follow-up activities which would begin to network a number of nationally distributed programs which place K-12 teachers in scientific work experiences with federal and state government laboratories, universities, and industries. The activities are designed to enable the participants to share information and strategies dealing with Maximizing the impact of their programs, sustaining the programs over time, and program assessment. The project is to be co-funded by the Department of Energy and the National Science Foundation. DOE is requested to fund the conference, NSF is requested to fund the follow-up networking activities.
