9452990 Stombler The Georgia Institute for Technology seeks partial funding from NSF to host the Science Olympiad National Tournament on May 17-18, 1996. The Science Olympiad is a national pre-college program to encourage interest in and study of mathematics, science and technology. It is based on the athletic model that includes practice, teamwork, competition and recognition. Science Olympiad has activities designed for grades K-12. Each year, 100 state champion teams from across the nation compete in a National Tournament comprised of 32 science and technology events. Competition is at two levels: middle school (grades 6-9) and secondary school (grades 9-12). ***
