*** 9553510 Warshauer Southwest Texas State University will initiate a six-week, summer residential with MSTP, Young Scholars project in mathematics for 40 students entering grades 11 and 12 and 8 teachers. Participants are taught to reason rigorously and precisely while experiencing the excitement of mathematical discovery. Participants receive classroom instruction in number theory, discrete mathematics, as well as programming in Mathematica computer lab. Philosophical and ethical issues and career options are discussed through an honors seminar. ***
